Tools of Hope is our Christian Women's Fellowship project for Father's Day and June.
When Hurricane Matthew blew through northwest Haiti, many homes were badly damaged, making them unsafe shelters for families. But congregations like ours are a stabilizing force. By giving to Church World Service (CWS), congregations helped many families in region like Haiti rebuild. CWS helped rebuild more than 275 damaged houses in Haiti.
Our Christian Women's Fellowship has participated for more than 30 years in Tools for Hope, collecting donations for the CWS Tools program. Donations, given in increments of five dollars, may be made "in honor of" or "in memorial to" a special man or men in the donor's life, such as one's father or a special teacher. Consider making a gift this Fathers Day.
For Mother's Day and all of May, our Christian Women's Fellowship actively participated in the Church World Service Blanket Program.
For many years, Marple Christian Church has been helping to keep our neighbors warm by providing blankets to families here in the United States and around the world. In 2017, CWS distributed thousands of blankets around the world, reaching families fleeing their homes, recovering from disaster and more. This year we will reach more as we blanket the world with love.
To participate, members donated funds to CWS in honor of and in memory of mothers or other special women in their lives. Here is this year's honor roll.
On June 10, we began our usual Summer Worship Schedule, which we will follow until about Labor Day. In our summer schedule, there is no Sunday School and our Sunday morning worship begins at 10:00 a.m. As usual, we serve bagels, donuts, and coffee at 9:30 a.m. to provide an informal time to visit.
Dress in comfortable clothing for summer weather.
Come have a good hot breakfast on Wednesday mornings! Totally free! 8:30-10:30 AM.
There will be no free breakfast on June 27 or July 4 because our pastor will be away.
We always have scrambled eggs and bacon and/or sausage, and hash browns. The buffet table has boxes of cereal, orange juice, coffee, decaf coffee, hot water with tea bags, and cream & sugar. Sometimes we also have pancakes with syrup. The front door is open at 8:00 AM and the hot food is usually ready around 8:30. We serve until 10:30. Come sit awhile and have a good breakfast! All are welcome!
We recently celebrated our tenth year anniversary for this program.
We collect non-perishable food and household supplies for our community food bank, St. Mark's Food Center. We can leave them outside the pastor's office.
In June, the Food Center is especially looking for cereal.
