Next Craft Fair is to be held on the third Saturday of October 18th, 2008! It's never too early to sign up!

Photos from October 20, 2007, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
We had over 38 crafters participating with us in 2007, besides our own crafters. We hosted two different raffles. Someone from the Boeing Corporation won over $250 from the 50/50 raffle, and many people won the craft items. [More about the raffles at the bottom of the page.]
Next door, the Thomas Massey House celebrated their annual "Harvest Festival" at which they presented many attractions, such as a string quartet from 1 to 2 p.m., and the Marple Community band from 2:30 to 3:00 p.m.. There were Colonial re-enactments (demonstrations) of blacksmithing, wood working, butter making, ink making, cooking, weaving, stenciling on cloth, colonial lighting, and apple-butter making along with story telling. They were open for tours from 10 a.m. through 4 p.m. For more information about these things, go to their web sites: 1696ThomasMasseyHouse.org and marplehistoricalsociety.org. They plan to join us again next year, because our joined efforts brought us over 500 visitors.
Pictured at right: Emily Koontz (rainbow and flag), Will Johnston (Eagles logo and American flag), and Megan Mixon (flower power) illustrating a few of the face painting designs available. Small painted tattoos on an arm or wrist are available as well. [picture from 2005] |

There are always a lot of wonderful Baked goods, like brownies, cakes, cookies, and candy which came in many shapes like flowers, by Marple Christian crafters. The bake sale is a guaranteed part of each annual Craft Fair, and is very popular because of the delicious and unique offerings. click below for enlargement |
Barbara Ann Floyd and Marj Jurist (above). Unique items like Shooies (Shoe-fly-pie cakes), Raspberry chocolate chip oatmeal cookies, Impossible Pie, "real fudge" brownies, etc. were hard to resist ... and really good! click on above picture to get a different view |

Steve Wambach, the Balloon Man, is a favorite with the kids (and with us kids-at-heart). He comes to join us every year to make balloon animals for kids. He's available for kids' parties too. [We'll get you a phone number soon.]

"Bird Abodes 4 You" by Naomi Grondahl: Birdhouses, sleds, boxes, cards, etc. (click for closeup of each, especially the birdhouse, front and backside. It will show the humorous messages that make these so unique.) |
About our raffles: Many of our guest crafters and members of our church donate items that will be shown on a table, each with a number on it. You can purchase as many tickets as you would like ($1 per ticket or 6 tickets for $5), write your name and contact information on the tickets and put them into the boxes with the numbers that correspond to the items you would like to have. [This way, if you win, you win something you would want rather than in a general raffle where, for example, if you were third place winner, you may win something you didn't want (if you entered because you wanted prize #1 or #2 only; it also increases your chances of winning).] Then at 4:00 p.m., someone will blindly reach in and draw out a ticket, and the person whose name is on the ticket will be contacted. You do not need to be present to win. The other raffle is a 50/50 raffle where one buys a ticket or tickets (again put your name and contact information on it), and if you win, you get 50% of the income from the 50/50 raffle, and Marple Christian Church gets the other 50%. The Craft Fair, including the craft raffle, is a fund-raiser by the Christian Women's Fellowship, and the 50/50 raffle is a separate fund raiser of Marple Christian Church. All proceeds from the Craft Fair and raffles will be going to Marple Christian Church so that it can continue doing its many good works. The church has several special projects, for example, like Christmas families, who are families we do not know but are in our community who have had some catastrophic event, that we help at Christmas time. There are too many good works to list here. For more information about some of our good works, check out our CWF pages and our activities page. |
