Family Movie Night, May 10
Our Second Saturday Fellowship Event for the month of May is a movie night this Saturday, May 10. This month's movie is the recent live-action version of "Charlotte's Web"; the movie will begin about 6:30 p.m. Bring your friends and, perhaps, a snack to share and join us!
Christian Women's Fellowship, Wednesday, May 14
The May meeting of CWF will take place at the church this Wednesday, May 14, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Dale Blair is serving as hostess and also is providing our program. Please bring your lunch. Dessert and beverages will be provided.
Dale has arranged for Carol Butler from the PA Resources Council to provide the program following our Salad Supper on June 11. She will be speaking to us about "Living Green in Your Home." All interested women-and men-are invited to join us on June 11. Dinner is at 6:30 p.m. The program will begin about 7:15 p.m.
Blankets For Church World Service
The May Service Project
You are invited to purchase a blanket in honor or in memory of a special woman in your life. Blankets are $5.00 each. Church World Service sends these versatile gifts to areas of need around the world to provide warmth, to serve as shelter, to bundle belongings... the list goes on and on. Please make checks payable to "Christian Women's Fellowship." You may hand your contributions to Marion Johnson or to Barbara Ann Floyd.

Yard Sale Scheduled for June 7th
This year's Yard Sale is scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 7th, from 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Dale Blair is serving as the overall coordinator for this project. If you would be willing to coordinate a particular area of the sale, please contact Dale. If you are able to work the day of the sale, please sign up on Sunday. You may bring your contributions for the Yard Sale to the garage at the church any time.
Sign Up to Help in the Nursery
We are asking for volunteers to provide nursery care during worship on Sunday morning. Only one person has volunteered to help so far. We do not want anyone to have to miss being in worship more than once a month, so we would like to have several volunteers. If you would be willing to enhance the worship experience of others by helping in this way, please sign up or speak with Pat Treat, our Worship Coordinator. Thank you!
Volunteer to Help Plan Our 50th Anniversary Celebration
We want to celebrate 50 years of Marple Christian Church in a very special way. A letter will be going out to former members and friends of MCC very soon. If you would be willing to serve on a planning committee for our 50th anniversary celebration (scheduled for the weekend of November 7-9, 2008), please speak to Janet Moore.
Wednesday Breakfast Update
We just completed our 25th week of providing free breakfast on Wednesdays, and we had our largest turnout so far. Twenty-one people came by for breakfast this week; four of those people joined us for the first time. I was pleasantly surprised when Ellen stopped in to help with clean-up!
We have served more than 300 breakfasts during this 25 weeks, and have served nearly 60 different people (20 from MCC, 6 from Suh Kwang, 31 from the neighborhood). More than $500 has been contributed for this effort; gifts have ranged from $5-$250. Dale, Pat T., Ellen, Debra, Anne, Teresa, Jeff, and Will have all helped out with cooking and clean-up.
People are being fed. Friendships are being made. Lives are being changed. This is an exciting ministry!

Our Flat Roof Needs Repair
We had a leak in one of our classrooms following a recent heavy rain. A roofer has estimated the cost of repairing the flat roof to prevent further leaking at $8,500.00. Our insurance company has been contacted and will determine if this damage is covered by insurance. If it is not covered, we will need to find the $8,500.00 to make this repair. Please consider making a special gift for this purpose.
